With the sun shining and more days spent on the porch, you might notice some grime on your house.
Time for a power wash, you think to yourself!
But, wait! Did you know that high pressure washing can be damaging to your home? Soft washing is a much gentler, more effective process that’ll leave your home looking as good as new!
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? SOFT WASHING VS. HIGH PRESSURE WASHING
Soft washing uses a customized detergent mixture combined with low pressure to clean and sanitize your home. High pressure washing, however, simply uses high force pressure to blast away the grime. While most people know about the high pressure option, many are unaware that what they really need is a soft wash appointment!
WHAT’S GROWING ON YOUR HOUSE AND WHY?
Ever wonder what’s building up on your home? It’s actually very common for mold, mildew, and algae to accumulate over time.
Imagine your house for a moment. Moisture accumulates on your home during the day. The sun typically dries up that moisture, however, the North side of your house gets significantly less sunshine (if any at all) than the others. This causes mold, mildew, and algae to grow rapidly! In order to actually resolve the issue, you need to ensure that you are killing the bacteria rather than simply removing the unsightly grime.
WHY YOU DON’T NEED A HIGH PRESSURE WASH
Using high pressure on your property is damaging to your home. In fact, it’s very possible that you could put a hole into the siding!
As if that alone weren’t bad enough, here are a few other facts to consider about power washing:
- The siding of your house (i.e. vinyl, hardy board, etc) comes with instructions on how to properly clean it in the manual. High pressure washing is not listed as an approved method. Using high pressure may actually void your warranty!
- While you may think that high pressure washing is killing all the mold, mildew, and algae, in actuality, you’re only temporarily removing it!
- For high pressure power washing to work, you need to be within 2 inches of the surface to remove the grime.
- With a high pressure wash, you may be leaving marks or chipping paint on your siding. As you use the wand to spray, it’s very likely that you won’t catch every square inch of your house. This can leave marks because you’re removing some of the oxidation!
WHY SOFT WASHING IS THE BETTER OPTION
In comparison to a high pressure wash, soft washing takes the materials of your property into account. To begin the process, a detergent mixture is created depending on the material of the house that is being washed and what’s growing on it. The house is then generously sprayed down with the mixture. In order to ensure that the bacteria is thoroughly killed, the mixture dwells for a few minutes before it’s rinsed off!
And while a high pressure wash requires you to be inches from the surface, a soft wash technician can properly clean up to three stories from the ground! Fun fact: in many cases, you can actually see the mold and mildew dripping off the house throughout the process!
Also, a soft wash is typically good for about 2 years after your appointment. You’ll find that you won’t have to clean the surface of your home multiple times a year if you actually kill the bacteria causing the grime!
